Magic Circle law firm Linklaters has bolstered its India-facing corporate offering by hiring private equity funds specialist Sayak Maity as a partner in Singapore from White & Case.

With an emphasis on financial sponsors, Maity has experience in advising on sectors such as infrastructure, technology and e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and manufacturing. Maity assists PE funds on investments in India and the wider Asia-Pacific region, and advises on joint ventures and corporate governance.

Maity joined White & Case in 2021. Prior to that, he worked at Indian law firms AZB & Partners and Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, and had in-house experience at Tata Sons, the parent company of private conglomerate Tata Group.

“India is a critical jurisdiction for the firm, and Sayak’s hire will significantly bolster our market-leading India practice, complementing our India-focused capital markets, banking and litigation, arbitration & investigations partners who are based in Singapore and our India-facing M&A team based out of London,” said Amit Singh, head of Linklaters’ India practice, in a statement.

Maity’s addition has taken the number of partners at Linklaters’ Singapore office to 24.
