King & Spalding has hired oil and gas lawyer Merrick White from Clifford Chance as a partner in its Singapore office.

A well-regarded oil and gas lawyer, White has spent the last 16 years in Singapore and Indonesia handling legal, commercial, business development, and engineering matters in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.

“We are very pleased to welcome Merrick to the firm,” said John Savage, managing partner of King & Spalding’s Singapore office, in a statement. “He’s an Asia veteran with a high-end oil and gas practice, and he brings additional depth and strength to our busy energy team.”

White has significant in-house commercial experience, including stints with Clyde Petroleum, Gulf Indonesia, ConocoPhillips and British Gas Exploration and Production, and was a chemical engineer before moving into law.
