Shirley Lau & Co., the Hong Kong associate firm of CMS, has snapped up a seven-member insurance team from RPC, including partners Andrew Horton and Steven Wise.

Horton joined RPC in 2012. Prior to that, he spent 15 years at Reed Smith. He started his career at Clyde & Co. Horton specialises in marine insurance and advises P&I clubs, international insurers, trading companies and recovery agents on disputes involving bills of lading, charterparties, marine insurance policies, P&I and FD&D claims.

Wise, who joined RPC in 2014, spent more than a decade at HFW immediately prior to that. He started his career at the legacy Barlow Lyde & Gilbert. Wise is a commercial dispute resolution lawyer specialising in shipping, marine insurance and international trade litigation and arbitration, with a focus on complex charterparty and multi-jurisdictional disputes.

The arrival of the team at RPC takes the total strength at Shirley Lau & Co. to 18 lawyers, including three partners. The firm, led by the ex-Troutman Sanders partner of the same name, entered into its association with CMS in May this year.
