Abhishek A Rastogi, an erstwhile tax partner with Khaitan & Co, has quit the firm to start his own practice that will have a presence in seven Indian cities.
With particular expertise in the goods and services tax (GST) space, the Mumbai-based Rastogi represented companies against the Indian tax authorities in matters ranging from anti-profiteering to ocean freight under the GST framework.
Before joining Khaitan in 2016, Rastogi worked with PwC and EY in tax advisory and litigation.
“While my focus will be on tax and constitutional issues, my endeavour will remain to work closely with governments on policy issues. In the new role, I will be arguing for matters involving personal liberties, land disputes, environment, insolvency, and arbitration,” said Rastogi.
His practice will have a presence in Mumbai, New Delhi, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Goa, and Chennai. Rastogi also plans to continue his association with Khaitan in certain matters that he will argue.
