Dentons Link Legal racks up its sixth lateral of the year and Chandhiok & Mahajan gets its fourth, with more hires for AKS Partners, Poovayya & Co, Bar & Brief Attorneys, ANM Global, and Saga Legal.

Litigator Paritosh Anil has joined AKS Partners as an associate partner in Delhi after 15 years of independent practice. He will retain his own practice, while working on litigation related to property and matrimonial disputes, and arbitrations at AKS. Anil appears before various Indian courts and tribunals, including the Supreme Court of India and Delhi High Court. AKS recently hired Payal Dayal as the head of its corporate practice from Khaitan & Khaitan, and also lost corporate partner Anish Jaipuriar to Burgeon Law.

Poovayya & Co has recruited transactions practitioner Arindam Basu as a partner in Bengaluru from ALMT Legal, just a month after hiring disputes partner Ankit Parhar from Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan in Delhi. Basu, who spent nearly 14 years at ALMT, advises private equity and venture capital funds on investments, M&A, and foreign exchange laws and regulations. He earlier worked with the legacy FoxMandal Little and the legacy Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co.

Mumbai-based Bar & Brief Attorneys has hired disputes practitioner Tanvi Nandgaonkar as a partner from DSK Legal. With more than 15 years of experience, she advises on litigation, arbitration and intellectual property. DSK also recently lost Hyderabad partners Durga Bose Gandham and Altaf Fatima to Saraf and Partners, and Delhi disputes partners Bobby Chandhoke and Sudhir Sharma, who launched their own firm C&S Partners. Bar & Brief has also hired two new associate partners to its media and entertainment practice group in the form of Niharika Gaonkar Naikar (from ANM Global) and Kedar Naniwadekar (from Shemaroo Entertainment); the hires come some months after the firm lost Arpit Choudhary, the head of the practice group, to ANM.

Speaking of ANM Global, the firm has added disputes expert Purazar Fouzdar as a partner in Mumbai; he was most recently practicing independently. He specializes in both litigation and arbitration, and has represented his clients before Indian courts, including the Supreme Court of India. Before going independent in 2016, Fouzdar had been at J Sagar Associates since 2007. Last month, ANM hired Khushboo Karol, who had been founder and managing partner of her own legal consultancy, KBK Legal. Earlier this year, the firm lost media lawyer Suresh Amesar to Anand & Naik, and hired IP lawyer Shwetank Tripathi as an associate partner from Khaitan & Co.

Dentons Link Legal has made at least six lateral partner hires this year, with the latest being transactions veteran Rohitashwa Prasad in Delhi from J Sagar Associates, where he spent almost two decades of his career. Prasad advises clients such as investment banks and private equity funds on matters including M&A, asset sales, joint venture, fund raising and IPO. Before his stint at JSA, Prasad worked at White & Case in Singapore from 2001 to 2003. Other Dentons Link Legal hires include Gyanendra Mishra, Shravan Yammanur, Rajeev Mishra, Prashanth Sabeshan, and Rajesh K Sehgal. The firm also lost aviation disputes partner Milanka Chaudhury to Trilegal.

Chandhiok & Mahajan recorded its fourth lateral partner hire of the year in the form of corporate attorney Niruphama Ramakrishnan, who joined as a partner in Bengaluru from J Sagar Associates. Prior to joining JSA from AZB & Partners in 2021, Ramakrishnan worked for S&R Associates and the erstwhile Amarchand Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co. So far in 2023, C&M has hired disputes partner Himanshu Vidhani in Mumbai from Khaitan & Co, Rahul Narayan in Delhi as its disputes head, and Shafaq Uraizee Sapre – also from J Sagar Associates – as its Mumbai managing partner.

Saga Legal has picked up disputes partner Neeraj Vyas in Bengaluru from Samvad Partners. This is Samvad’s third recent partner exit in the southern city after disputes expert Pinaz Mehta, who moved to Wadia Ghandy & Co, and transactions partner Anisha Shroff, who left for Stratage Law Partners. With nearly 10 years of experience, Vyas specializes in litigation and arbitration. He had two stints at Samvad, first between 2016 and 2019, and then again from 2021 onwards.
