A new year brought new hires for India’s legal market. Dentons Link Legal, ANM Global, Emerald Law Offices, and Kochhar & Co continued their hiring streaks, while Rajaram Legal, SKV Law Offices, and AKS Partners also welcomed new additions.

 

Disputes and aviation specialist Petrushka Dasgupta has joined Dentons Link Legal as a partner in Mumbai and Delhi from ALMT Legal. She advises on corporate litigation, insolvency and bankruptcy, dispute resolution, real estate and aviation. Having started her career as an in-house counsel at Jet Airways in 2002, Dasgupta worked for several law firms, including AZB & Partners and BMR Legal Advocates. Before joining ALMT in 2022, she worked for IndusLaw for nearly three years. Dentons Link Legal lost aviation disputes expert Milanka Chaudhury to Trilegal last July.

This is Dentons Link Legal’s first lateral partner hire this year. Last year, the firm added at least six partners.

ANM Global has landed insolvency and bankruptcy expert Shikha Goenka Ginodia as a partner in Mumbai from Dua Associates, where she was a partner. With over 15 years of experience, Goenka Ginodia advises on general corporate, insolvency and bankruptcy, and commercial litigations. She joined Dua Associates in 2022. Previously, she worked as an in-house counsel at Piramal Capital & Housing Finance as well as an advocate at Indian courts. ANM Global also continued its hiring streak from the middle of last year, which included Purazar Fouzdar, Khushboo Karol, and Shwetank Tripathi.

Private equity boutique Rajaram Legal has recruited corporate lawyer Upasana Gupta as a partner in Bengaluru. Previously, she operated her independent practice. With more than a dozen years of experience, Gupta advises on general corporate and foreign investment and joint ventures. Before going independent last year, she spent time at law firms, including Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, S&R Associates, and J Sagar Associates. Gupta also worked in in-house roles at B-to-B platformer udaan.com and retailer Dunzo.

Emerald Law Offices has welcomed dispute practitioner Rahul Malhotra as a partner and the head of litigation practice. He advises clients in the automotive, financial, logistics, real estate and infrastructure sectors on disputes related to contractual claims, insolvency and bankruptcy, corporate law, debt recovery, consumer litigations, white-collar crimes and writ petitions.

Since its inception in May last year, Emerald has been expanding aggressively. In October, the firm hired a corporate and M&A team led by senior partner Madhavan Srivatsan from Law Office of Madhavan Srivatsan, a boutique he co-founded. In August, Emerald opened an office in Bengaluru, and added real estate partner Aditi Lodha to its Delhi base.

Faizur Rehman has joined Delhi-based AKS Partners as a partner in its energy and infrastructure practice. He advises on land acquisitions, government biddings, joint ventures, M&A, investment and divestment, restructuring and other matters related to fossil fuels as well as renewable energy and biofuels. Rehman is experienced as an in-house counsel, having worked for companies such as Schneider Electric and Uber India. Last November, litigator Paritosh Anil has joined AKS Partners as an associate partner after 15 years of independent practice.

SKV Law Offices added nabbed disputes lawyer Shryeshth Ramesh Sharma as a partner in Delhi from HSA Advocates. Sharma advises on regulatory and policy disputes and white-collar crime. Prior to joining HSA in 2018 as a partner, he ran his independent practice for seven years. Previously, Sharma was at J Sagar Associates as well as Nestle (India) as an in-house counsel.

DSK Legal partner and disputes specialist Shiv Sapra has moved to Kochhar & Co as a partner in Delhi. With more than 17 years of experience, he advises clients in sectors such as food & beverages, media and entertainment, and oil and gas on civil, corporate and commercial litigation and arbitration. Prior to joining DSK in 2022, Sapra worked for Luthra and Luthra Law Offices for about 16 years and left as a partner.

Sapra becomes Kochhar’s fourth partner since June. It added employment and corporate lawyer Anirudh Mukherjee as a partner in Gurugram from Lumiere Law Partners, a member of the EY law network, in October and real estate expert Nishant Arora as a partner in Delhi, also from Lumiere Law Partners in September. In June, M&A expert Kaveri Shrivastava joined Kochhar as a senior partner in Hyderabad from Tatva Legal.
