Arun Scaria, a Bengaluru-based partner at Khaitan & Co, has joined VC firm Tanglin Venture Partners as general counsel in Singapore.

Scaria, who started his career with Nishith Desai Associates in 2009, joined Khaitan in 2017. According to media reports, Khaitan has also seen the exit of Bengaluru partner Rishabh Bhardwaj, but his destination is currently not clear.

Scaria is part of a recent trend that seen partners from established Indian law firms move in-house in leadership roles. In April, Roshan Thomas exited Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas to join Byju’s, while Pratibha Jain left Nishith Desai Associates for Everstone Group. Prior to this, Damini Bhalla departed L&L Partners to join Zomato.

The news of Scaria’s exit comes shortly after Khaitan acquired boutique firm Assentio Legal, which has offices in Chennai and Bengaluru.
