Arbitration expert Ng Jern-Fei has joined Malaysian boutique Lim Chee Wee Partnership (LCWP), making the latter the country's first law firm in Malaysia to have a King’s Counsel.

Ng, who joined LCWP on Jan. 2, will continue his current practice as a member of 7BR Barristers’ Chambers in London, Duxton Hill Chambers in Singapore and Temple Chambers in Hong Kong.

The Malaysia-born Ng "has been instructed in some 350 international arbitrations as counsel over the past 20 years. This and his many years of experience practicing English law will be immensely valuable to our clients,” said LCWP managing partner Lee Shih in a statement.

With 20 years of experience, Ng advises governments, multinational corporations and wealthy individuals on litigations and arbitration. He has worked on arbitration cases across Singapore, England, Hong Kong, British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands.

Ng’s notable cases include a $40 million commodities arbitration seated in London, $50 million multi-jurisdictional civil fraud litigation in London and $4 million oil supply dispute heard in Singapore.

In an interview with ALB in 2022, Ng said he was keen to contribute to the development of Asia as one of the epicentres of global dispute resolution. He added that arbitration hubs such as Shenzhen, Seoul, and Kuala Lumpur were "emerging in importance."
