U.S. firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius has hired two tax specialists from the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS). Kai Lee Lau (pictured) joins as a partner, while Rajiv Rai joins as an associate.
According to the firm, their arrival gives Morgan Lewis Singapore tax capabilities for the first time. Lee will additionally be a director of Morgan Lewis Stamford, the firm’s Singapore joint law venture.
The pair will focus on civil and criminal tax litigation, and supporting clients’ tax-related needs.
Lee, who spent 12 years of his 15-year career at the IRAS, advises on corporate and personal income tax, goods and services tax (GST), property tax, and stamp duty. He is a chartered accountant, as well as a mediator on the panel of the Singapore Mediation Centre.
