Indian law firm AZB & Partners has hired Ajay Singh Solanki as a partner in Mumbai from Nishith Desai Associates, where he headed the labour and employment law practice.

Solanki, who joined Nishith Desai in 2008, advises multinational corporations on India’s labour and employment laws, including hiring, compensation and benefits, employee transfers including as a result of business transfers (post-merger integration issues), workforce structuring strategies (including engaging contingent workers), secondment arrangements, consultancy arrangements, and more.

He becomes AZB’s first partner hire in Mumbai since September, when the firm welcomed back Ajay Upadhyay as the head of its compliance and investigation team from KPMG. AZB now has 46 partners in Mumbai.
