Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow has hired Geraldine Ong, most recently the head of Drew & Napier’s real estate practice, as the leader of its own real estate group in Singapore.

Also joining Bakers’ Singapore member firm is Sharon Tan, who had earlier been a director in Drew's real estate practice. She most recently held an in-house role with Abbott Laboratories.

Ong and Tan have represented property developers, institutional investors, REITs, MNC real estate users, financiers, and private wealth clients from Singapore, Hong Kong, China and across the Asia-Pacific region. Their experience includes real estate merger and acquisition transactions, direct sale and purchase of commercial, residential and industrial real estate assets, structured real estate financing, property development joint ventures, hotels and integrated resort projects and other industrial real estate transactions.

During her 30-year legal career, Ong was legal advisor to Jurong Town Corporation and the Singapore Technologies group of companies, ran her own practice, and also worked with KhattarWong as a consultant.

Meanwhile, Tan had an in-house stint with UOL Group in between two spells at Drew. She started her career as an associate with KhattarWong.
