Malaysian law firm Adnan Sundra & Low (ASL) has expanded its corporate offerings with the addition of M&A partner Liza Uma (L) and banking and finance partner Yong Wee Hoo.

Uma, who was previously a partner at local law firm Syed Ibrahim & Co, focuses on transactional work, both domestic and cross-border. Her notable deals include the IPO of Eco World International Berhad, IPrice’ restructuring, and the Boustead REIT privatisation.

Formerly a partner at Zaid Ibrahim & Co, Yong joins ASL’s banking and finance group from Konexo, an alternate legal and compliance service provider backed by Eversheds Sutherland, where he was a principal consultant. He has expertise in debt capital market transactions, encompassing both conventional and Islamic finance.

Yong’s experience also extends to project financing through Islamic bonds, highlighted by the largest offering relating to highway construction, and Malaysia’s first Sukuk issuance based on the Shariah principles of Wakalah Bi Al-Isthithmar to fund the development and construction of an expressway.

ASL has been expanding aggressively in 2024, adding a three-partner intellectual property, gaming and sports practice group from Christopher & Lee Ong recently.
