Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has enhanced its banking and finance capabilities in Hong Kong with the addition of debt capital markets specialist Jessica Li as a partner from Ashurst.

Li specializes in advising both Chinese and international financial institutions, as well as corporate clients, on debt capital markets transactions throughout the Greater China region. Her expertise spans the full range of DCM products, including stand-alone bond offerings, MTN programme establishments and subsequent note issuances, hybrid securities offerings, equity-linked debt instruments, and Basel III-compliant regulatory capital issuances.

Before joining Norton Rose Fulbright, Li served as a partner at Ashurst for more than three years. Her career also includes eight years at legacy Allen & Overy (now A&O Shearman following their merger), and previous positions at international firms Clifford Chance and White & Case.

“The cross-border activity between Hong Kong, the rest of Greater China and international markets remains robust, which continues to drive strong demand for fund raising in the capital markets. We are therefore seeking to further expand our DCM capabilities,” said Psyche Tai, head of Norton Rose Fulbright’s Hong Kong practice, in a statement.

Added Victor Sim, head of the firm’s Hong Kong banking and finance team: “Jessica will help us extend the breadth of our banking and finance offering to clients in Hong Kong and the rest of Greater China, and internationally.”

With Li’s addition, Norton Rose now has 16 partners in Hong Kong. Li’s arrival follows the departure of a three-member disputes team in September of last year, which included partner Alfred Wu and senior consultant Philip Nunn, who moved to Dentons.
