UK law firm Watson Farley & Williams has recruited disputes expert Andrew Raymond as a partner in Singapore from the Seoul office of Herbert Smith Freehills, where he was a senior associate.

Raymond is WFW’s third lateral senior disputes hire in Singapore in the past two months, following those of partner Boon Tat Yeo and consultant Guy Hardaker, who joined from Quahe Woo & Palmer and Holman Fenwick Willan, respectively.

With more than 10 years of experience, Raymond advises mainly Japanese and South Korean corporations on commercial disputes with a focus on international arbitration and multi-jurisdiction investigations. His other areas of expertise include the construction, infrastructure, financial investment and pharmaceuticals sectors as well as anti-bribery and ESG (environment, social and governance).

Raymond has “a great depth of experience representing Japanese and Korean clients in international disputes, an area we are looking to strengthen following the opening of WFW offices in Tokyo and Seoul earlier this year,” said Steven Burkill, Asia-Pacific dispute resolution head, in a statement.

With this addition, WFW now has 12 partners in Singapore.
