Two Delhi-based lawyers have recently passed away after contracting the coronavirus: Sundeep Dudeja, a partner at L&L Partners, and Ajoy Halder, who founded  Halder & Associates.

Dudeja, who specialised in corporate structure, regulatory, M&A and private equity, had been a partner at L&L Partners since 2007. According to Legally India, he is survived by his wife and daughter.

Halder set up infrastructure-focused law firm Halder & Associates in 2017, and the firm was named on the list of ALB India Firms to Watch 2019. He was previously a partner at HSA Advocates, and earlier worked at Pinsent Masons in Singapore. In a statement, Halder & Associates said it had “decided to continue operating the firm to carry forward the legacy of Ajoy to the best of our ability.”

India is currently facing a second COVID-19 wave that has seen a surge of cases much higher than those registered last year during the outbreak of the pandemic. The country currently accounts for one in three of the reported deaths from the coronavirus around the world, according to a Reuters tally.
