Chau Ee Lee,

LEE Chau Ee is well versed in Asian and Western law firm language and culture with an impressive range of cultural law firm experience at partner level. As an international partner of King & Wood Mallesons (KWM), Chau Ee was most recently a Beijing based partner of Red Circle Chinese firm King & Wood, and when he was based in KWM's Singapore office, a partner of Big Six Australian firm Mallesons. Prior to that, he was a director in Big Four Singapore law firm Drew & Napier LLC’s market leading Dispute Resolution practice as its head of Construction & Engineering group (where he trained and spent the early years of his career).
Earlier in his career, he was a Europe Middle East Asia (EMEA) London and Dubai partner of a US global law firm - that had a transatlantic merger with a leading London headquartered law firm - where he held administrative, management and leadership roles including office managing partner, head of practice and member of the global leadership team as well as being a founding member of that firm's Dubai office, and launched its Construction and Engineering practice.

Derek Ho is the Senior Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for privacy and data protection at Mastercard for the Europe, the Asia Pacific and Middle East Africa regions. Derek is a Singapore qualified lawyer, and he specialises in privacy and data protection and technology law. Prior to Mastercard, Derek held senior legal positions in multinational companies in the Asia Pacific region, and started his legal career in Drew & Napier LLC’s telecommunications, media and technology practice. He is also a member of PDPC’s Data Protection Advisory Committee, and a management committee member of AsiaDPO which is a registered society of data protection officers. Derek graduated from the National University of Singapore, and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional and a Certified Information Privacy Manager.

Graduated from the University of Kent, UK with B.A (Law) Honours in 1979; called to the English Bar in 1980, and to the Malaysian Bar in 1982. She worked in a leading law firm, Messrs Shearn Delamore in Kuala Lumpur for 13 years, practising civil litigation and family law and was eventually made partner.
In 1996, she left to start her own law firm, Messrs Y. N. Foo & Partners, practising initially in civil litigation and family law and subsequently specializing in the area of family law. She has represented clients in landmark Malaysian family law cases, appeared as amicus curiae on behalf of the Malaysian Bar in seminal decisions on family law and has rendered expert opinions on Malaysian family law to Courts of foreign jurisdictions.

Handa S. Abidin, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D. is the Vice Rector for Academics and Student Affairs at President University. He is one of the judges of the Southeast Asia Law Awards 2018-2020 and Indonesia Law Awards 2015 & 2017-2021. He is a member of the Ethics Council of Indonesia Fintech Lending Association (Asosiasi Fintech Pendanaan Bersama Indonesia). He graduated from Universitas Indonesia, the George Washington University, and the University of Edinburgh.
Hooi-Bien Chuah

Hooi Bien is Asia Area Legal Director for AstraZeneca. She has over 20 years of legal experience spanning across pharmaceutical, consumer health, technology, and oil & gas industries.
Prior to AstraZeneca, she was with Lazada, an e-commerce marketplace platform and logistics network under the Alibaba Group, as SVP Head of Legal (Malaysia) and Litigation Centre of Excellence lead (Southeast Asia). Hooi Bien was also previously in legal, compliance and company secretarial roles with GSK, Shell and UCB Asia Pacific, after starting out her career in private practice with Messrs. K.B. Chua & Co. Hooi Bien was awarded the Southeast Asia In-House Lawyer of the Year (ALB SEA Award 2016). The Lazada legal team she led was awarded Technology, Media and Telecommunications Team of the Year 2021 and Innovative Team of the Year 2020 at the ALB Malaysia Awards.
Hooi Bien holds an MBA from the University of Strathclyde and an LLB (Honours) from the University of Leicester, and was called to the English Bar and Malaysian Bar. She also held a Leading Professional in Ethics & Compliance certification.

Lewis is an Australian lawyer with 15+ years of international experience. He is admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria (AU) and a registered solicitor of the High Court of Australia. Linda graduated in 2001 from the National University of Singapore with an LL.B (Hons. 2nd Upper) and was admitted to the Singapore bar in 2002. She has an active practice in family litigation. She handles all aspect of family and matrimonial practice, including divorce and child-related disputes, division of matrimonial assets, spousal and child maintenance, family violence, child abduction as well as cross-border child and financial related matters
She has also acted for parties in custody and guardianship disputes over minor children, including custody disputes straddling different jurisdictions; maintenance summons applications, family violence as well adoption applications. Marianne Malate-Guerrero

Atty. Marianne (“Ianne”) Guerrero carries with her almost thirty years of legal experience, having started her legal career in 1989 as an associate in one of the top ranking law firms in the Philippines, Castillo Laman Tan Pantaleon and San Jose. During those nine years with the firm, she honed her skills in corporate litigation, contract drafting and negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, labor and intellectual property. Subsequently, she began her career as an in-house counsel when she was invited by a banking institution, Solidbank Corporation, to be its first General Counsel. Two years into that role, Ms. Guerrero moved on to a senior role in a Singaporean bank, United Overseas Bank, as Senior Vice President and Legal Head for its Philippine operations. After five years with UOB, Ms. Guerrero joined the largest conglomerate in the Philppines, the SM Group. There she took on the role of Senior Vice President and Legal Head of its mother company, SM Investments Corporation. During her eleven years with SM, her legal team serviced almost all the subsidiaries and affiliates of the SM Group.
Currently, Ms. Guerrero is the Senior Vice President and Group Head for Legal Services in United Coconut Planters Bank Philippines, one of the larger banks in the Philippines, which focuses on consumer loans.

Rodziah Zainudin

Rodziah Zainudin, Malaysian, is Head of Legal, Shell Malaysia since 1 May 2017, after returning from Qatar Shell. Prior to that, Rodziah was Senior Legal Counsel, Downstream Regional Portfolio, providing primary legal support for Shell M&A transactions in Singapore, Pakistan, South Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam and China. Concurrently, she was Company Secretary of Shell Malaysia since 2001 overseeing 37 companies including a plc. Her portfolio in Shell Malaysia included Gas & Power Business and Corporate Finance. Since 1 December 2017, she was appointed the President of Shell Women Action Network (SWAN) promoting D&I in Shell Malaysia. Representing Shell Malaysia, Rodziah is a co-founder of the Malaysian Women in Energy launched in March 2018 jointly with the secretariat of Malaysian Gas Association. Through her SWAN leadership, Shell Malaysia won “The Life at Work Award 2019: Best Leadership (International Organization) in Diversity & Inclusion” awarded by Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp), an agency under the Ministry of Human Resources. Rodziah was awarded the Asian Legal Business 2021 Woman Lawyer (In-House) of the Year Award.

Stanley Park

Stanley Park is Managing Director and Head of Legal - Asia Pacific Region for Scotiabank's Global Banking and Markets Division. He is based in Singapore and is responsible for all legal matters across the region, including China, Japan, Korea, India, Australia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore. Stanley graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1985 and received his law degree from the Harvard Law School in 1988, where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review. Stanley has been a member of the New York State Bar since 1994.
Suresh Nair

Suresh graduated from the National University of Singapore with an LLB (Hons) degree in 1993. He served as a partner in a large and then in a mid sized firm in Singapore and established Nair & Co LLC with his team as a disputes and insolvency/restructuring boutique in October 2017. Nair & Co LLC merged with PK Wong & Associates LLC on 1 January 2020 to form PK Wong & Nair LLC, where Suresh serves as Co-Managing Director. In 2002 – 2003, Suresh served as a Legal Officer with the United Nations Compensation Commission in Geneva, where he reviewed war reparations claims arising out of the first Gulf war
Suresh’s main areas of practice are corporate and commercial litigation, international arbitration, banking, insolvency and restructuring, and employment related disputes.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ELIGIBILITY
How do I know if I am eligible to make a submission?
We highly encourage all firms, individuals and in-house teams to submit, as we have numerous award categories to choose from. We welcome both past participants and newcomers to join the submission for the awards.
Is self-nomination permitted?
Yes, we accept self-nominated submissions. We also accept third-party submissions, should you wish to nominate an external party or vice versa.
Is there a fee required to make a submission in the law awards?
No, there is no fee payment required for you or your firm/team to make a submission.
TIMELINE OF EVENTS
When will the finalists and winners be announced?
The shortlist of finalists will be released around 4-8 weeks prior to the awards ceremony. The winners will be exclusively announced at the awards ceremony on 21 October 2021.
NOMINATION PROCESS AND ASSESSMENT
How are the finalists chosen?
Asian Legal Business will compile all of the submission entries, and the ALB editorial and research teams will extensively review each submission to ensure the criteria are met in order to advance to the shortlist of finalists. We stress that this process is fair, impartial and not subject to external influences.
How are the winners chosen?
Once the shortlist of finalists have been announced, an independent judging panel will review and select their top three choices for the award categories they are assigned to. The scores for each award category will be tabulated, and the individual/firm/team with the highest score will be announced as the winner.
What are the award categories that I can take part in?
Any law firms, in-house teams or individuals may take part in multiple award categories if appropriate. The researchers reserve the right to move entries from one category to another if they feel it appropriate. The researchers’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Who will be on the judging panel for ALB SE Asia Law Awards?
There will be an independent judging panel of at least 25 senior and expert legal industry leaders to review the submission materials. The judging panel will be selected on the basis of their expertise and knowledge, and will be comprised from various sectors to correspond to the diverse list of award categories. A partial list of judges’ names will be released prior to the awarding ceremony, and the remaining judges will be revealed on the evening of the awards.
What will my contact information/my client’s information be used for?
All contact information provided will not be disclosed to external parties; and will only be seen by our ALB research team and the judges panel. We keep the information on record internally, in case we need to contact you or your client regarding any questions or discrepancies in the submission form.
Where will my name/firm name/team name be published if we are a finalist or winner?
As a finalist and/or winner, your firm/team/individual name will be published in ALB awards materials and print magazine. For more information, please contact us.
Is my submission confidential?
Any information you submit will only be reviewed by the ALB team and independent judging panel, whose names will be published. The material submitted will only be disclosed to the above; if there is any information that is strictly confidential, please mark clearly on the nomination form. Though we do our best to maintain the security of the information you provide, any information you transmit to us is done at your own risk and Thomson Reuters is not responsible for any unauthorized transmission of information.
