Morrison & Foerster has hired corporate lawyer Nozomi Oda as a partner in the firm’s corporate practice in Tokyo, the firm’s eighth partner-level hire in Asia this year.

Oda’s hire follows those of private funds expert Nicholas Sheets in Hong Kong, project finance specialists Jon Ornolfsson and Tessa Davisin Singapore, antitrust and investigations partner Daiske Yoshida in Tokyo, capital markets partner Ke Huang in Hong Kong, and corporate partners Ruomu Li and Lucy (Qiong) Lu in Shanghai and Beijing, respectively.

Oda joins from Latham & Watkins, Her practice involves cross-border public and private M&A transactions, joint ventures, strategic investments, and capital markets transactions. Oda recently represented Daiichi Sankyo in its $6.9 billion global drug development and commercialization agreement with AstraZeneca as well as advised CR Bard in its acquisition of Medicon, a Japan-based distributor of medical equipment.

Before joining Latham, Oda was with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu.
