Singapore arbitration venue Maxwell Chambers has teamed up with Arbitration Place of Toronto and Ottawa and London’s International Dispute Resolution Centre (IDRC) to launch the International Arbitration Centre Alliance (IACA), a global hybrid physical and virtual hearings platform.
The collaboration was formed with the aim of reducing challenges faced with planning and conducting international arbitration hearings and ADR proceedings following the COVID-19 outbreak.
According to a press release from IACA, its global hybrid hearings can make arbitral proceedings widely accessible worldwide with the parties participating either in a group room or in videoconferencing solutions. It will provide traditional single-site physical hearings – including real-time court reporting, simultaneous translations and breakout rooms for each party and for the arbitral tribunal – as well as technical support before and during hearings, including technical rehearsals, monitoring, and enhanced cyber-security measures.
