In demonstration of its ambitions in Asia, Ashurst has added another corporate partner to its ranks in Singapore. Keith McGuire joins the firm’s Singapore team from Allen & Overy, where he was head of the firm’s corporate department in Singapore from 1998 to 2005.

"Keith's appointment and the recent hire of Peter Kwon in Hong Kong show that we are… making strategic investments in response both to client demand and market opportunities,” said Geoffrey Green, head of Asia at Ashurst. “There is a strong synergy between Keith's expertise, particularly in the energy, infrastructure and financial services sectors, and the focus of our practice in the region."

The firm is focusing on building a strong corporate offering in Singapore and the hire of a well-known lawyer such as McGuire – who has corporate expertise in advising on M&A, joint ventures, corporate finance and investment fund matters throughout Asia – should strengthen Ashurst’s reputation for corporate matters in the Asia-Pacific region.

McGuire’s appointment also follows the transfer of corporate partner Susan Roy to the Singapore office last year.
