UK firm Reynolds Porter Chamberlain (RPC), which specialises in insurance, has beefed up its Singapore office,  with the relocation of legal director Jeremy Hewitt from London. The relocation to Singapore, RPC's first international office, provides more evidence of the continuously growing demand for legal services from insurer and reinsurer clients in the region.

Hewitt has more than 10 years of experience in the London insurance market, and he specialises in all aspects of financial lines insurance. This includes directors and officers (D&O), errors and omissions (E&O), bankers blanket bonds, professional indemnity and fidelity insurance.

Mark Errington, head of RPC’s Singapore office, welcomed Hewitt’s arrival. “Jeremy Hewitt has been advising insurers in London and internationally for well over a decade, both on coverage issues and their response to claims in the UK, Asia, the U.S. and other European jurisdictions,” he said in a statement.

“He also has significant experience advising insurers on product development, and regularly drafts innovative policy wordings at primary and excess level.”

Hewitt’s relocation takes the number of partners at the firm’s Singapore office to two, the other being Errington, an insurance and reinsurance specialist who joined RPC from Barlow Lyde & Gilbert when the former’s Singapore office opened in October 2011.

The arrival of Hewitt comes a few weeks after fellow UK insurance firm DAC Beachcroft, also a recent entrant in Singapore, expanded its local office by hiring insurance veteran Steven Dewhurst from Stephenson Harwood. ALB
