Global law firm Trowers & Hamlin has promoted four members of its Abu Dhabi and Bahrain offices to partnership as part of a series of partner promotions globally.

Saleem Adam and Edmund Sia have been named partners in Abu Dhabi. Adam focuses on information technology transactions, and is experienced in licensing and regulatory work relating to public and private companies in the financial services, telecom and government sectors. Sia, meanwhile, specialises in project development and project financing matters in the region. Both were previously senior associates at the firm.

Trowers & Hamlin also named former senior associate Paula Boast as partner in its Bahrain practice, which focuses on construction, engineering and projects in the Middle East. Additionally, Brian Howard, a former senior associate in the Bahrain office, was promoted to partner in the firm’s corporate practice, which advises on structuring and regulation.

On the whole, the firm appointed 11 new partners in the UK and internationally. “Over a third of the new intake of partners are from our international offices, which emphasises Trowers’ commitment to our practices in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain and the importance we place on our offering there,” said Jonathan Adlington, London-based senior partner at Trowers & Hamlin.

The firm recently ended its exclusive alliance with the Saudi Arabian Feras Alshawaf Law Firm, following the departure of its last lawyer in Riyadh. Trowers & Hamlin had previously shut down its Jeddah office in May 2011, less than a year after it opened. ALB
