Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has hired former Allen & Overy senior associate Nomita Nair, a project finance specialist, as a partner in its finance practice in Singapore, as the firm moves to strengthen its infrastructure, energy, and oil and gas capabilities.
With more than 10 years of experience in project financing and energy commercial contracts, Nair has acted for sponsors, lenders, producers and purchasers across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, with particular expertise in LNG projects.
Nair has previously worked in Dubai, London and New York, including secondments at Standard Chartered Bank and HSBC. She joins from Allen & Overy’s London office.
"Project finance is an important area of activity for our clients in Southeast Asia and we continue to develop our offering in the market to ensure that we can deliver the very best support to our clients,” said Alistair Duffield, project finance partner and head of Singapore at BLP, in a statement. “The addition of Nomita's considerable experience will ensure that our practice grows as we move forward with our strategic plans for the region.”
BLP has recruited four new partners to its Singapore office in the last financial year. In Singapore, the firm’s projects team is strong in the areas of mining, natural resources and renewable and clean energy.
