Clifford Chance securities partner Eiichi Kanda has been elected as the new managing partner of its Tokyo office effective July 27. The current office managing partner, Peter Kilner, will relocate to Hong Kong.

Kanda, a capital markets specialist focusing on real estate, investment, financing, funds, asset management and securitisation, has been a partner at Clifford Chance since 2001.

Speaking about Kanda's promotion, the Magic Circle firm’s Asia managing partner, Peter Charlton, said in a statement: “Eiichi has always been a respected member of the Tokyo practice, and I am very pleased to welcome him into our regional management team. We remain committed as ever to Tokyo, and the outlook for our practice is very bright. Despite global economic uncertainties, we continue to see potential for growth in the market."

Finance specialist Kilner has been a resident at Clifford Chance’s Tokyo office for nine years now. After moving to Hong Kong, he will split his time between both cities, and provide support to the firm’s banking and finance practices.
