Sparke Helmore Lawyers has appointed a new chairman and several new board members.
Insurance partner John Coorey has assumed the role of chairman replacing Phillip Salem who held the role for three years. Coorey has more than 25 years of experience in professional indemnity, directors & officers liability, commercial and aviation litigation.

The firm has also added Robyn Chalmers as a non-executive director to the board. Chalmers was a partner at Mallesons for 26 years, spent three years as chairman (from 2002 to 2005) and was a board member for a period of eight years (from 1997 to 2005). Chalmers was also the first female partner appointed at Mallesons.

Two of the firm’s partners in the insurance group, Matthew Pokarier and Ben Dubé, have also joined the board. Pokarier is the Brisbane local managing partner and is part of the dispute resolution team. Dubé is the Perth local managing partner and works primarily in the areas of administrative law, statutory classes of insurance and workplace law.
