Trowers & Hamlins has promoted construction lawyer Cheryl Cairns to partnership in Dubai, along with six other promotions in London and Manchester.

Cairns specialises in UAE domestic and international contentious and non-contentious construction law, providing pre-dispute contract advisory services as well as being experienced in conducting arbitrations under various institutional arbitral rules including the DIAC, ICC, LCIA and UNCITRAL Rules.  She acts for a variety of employers, contractors and subcontractors and her notable instructions include acting on behalf of a specialist systems subcontractor, the Claimant, in an AED 282m claim arising from a major infrastructure project.

The six other promotions were in the practice areas of banking and finance, employment, housing projects, and litigation and dispute resolution.

"I am pleased to welcome these talented individuals to the partnership and to recognise the outstanding contribution they have each made to the firm in their respective areas,” said Jennie Gubbins, senior partner of Trowers & Hamlins, in a statement. “They have all successfully demonstrated technical excellence and sound commercial skills whilst also delivering the highest standards of client care.   This latest round of promotions will help us to strengthen and grow our strategically important areas both in the UK and internationally.”

Additionally, the firm has appointed Dominic O'Neil to the role of International Managing Partner. Based in Bahrain, O’Neil will also continue to be resident managing partner of that office.
