Former Singaporean politician and diplomat S. Jayakumar, a noted constitutional lawyer, will join Drew & Napier as a consultant and head the firm’s international law, international trade and constitutional law practices.
Jayakumar, who will join the firm May 1, was Singapore’s Senior Minister from 2009 to 2011, and has also served as the Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Home Affairs, Law and Labour.
An accomplished academic, Jayakumar was the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the National University of Singapore from 1974 to 1980. He was also Singapore’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 1971 to 1974.
