Al Tamimi & Company has appointed Chris Appleby as the regional head of its technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) practice. Appleby joins from Qatari law firm Al-Ansari & Associates.

Appleby, who has worked in the UAE, Qatar, Australia, Hong Kong and New Zealand, advises on information technology, telecommunications law and regulation, large-scale IT/telecom infrastructure procurement, systems integration, outsourcing and competitive tendering and contracting.

In an emailed statement, Husam Hourani, managing partner at Al Tamimi, described Appleby’s appointment as “an enormous step forward as Chris brings a wealth of international experience and will ensure the growth and development of the technology, media and telecommunications practice across the region.”

Apple will lead a team of five lawyers based in Dubai, with a number of TMT specialists in the firm’s regional offices.
