Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu has strengthened its insolvency and restructuring capabilities with the hire of Nobuaki Kobayashi as a partner in Tokyo.

Kobayashi joins the firm from Kobayashi & Associates Law Office, where he was chairman.

Kobayashi focuses on insolvency and restructuring, and has represented clients on corporate reorganisations. Aside from insolvency and restructuring work, he also has experience in advising creditors and financial sponsors on their transactions.

“Through our overseas network, our law firm has been providing legal services expeditiously in areas such as restructuring- and insolvency-related areas, focusing on such matters as large-scale insolvencies,” said Kenichi Fujinawa, managing partner of Nagashima Ohno, in a statement.

“However, with the addition of Nobuaki Kobayashi, who has over the years been involved in many restructuring and insolvency cases, the restructuring and insolvency practice of our law firm will be strengthened, and through cooperation with the specialists of each legal area of our law firm, we are confident that we will be able to provide better services to all of our clients.”

Kobayashi is expected to start work at the firm on Oct. 1.
