Hogan Lovells has hired intellectual property and TMT expert Mark Parsons from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer as a partner in Hong Kong.

Parsons, who headed Freshfields’ Asia IP and IT practice in Hong Kong, advises clients on commercial, intellectual property, technology licensing and regulatory matters.

The appointment of Parsons bolsters Hogan Lovells’ IP and TMT offering in Asia, after Hong Kong-based IP and TMT partner Gabriela Kennedy left the firm for Mayer Brown JSM in October last year.

“Mark’s arrival in our TMT sector team comes shortly after that of LA based media and entertainment partner Sheri Jeffrey who also has a significant Asian component to her practice,” said Peter Watts and Robert Waldman, global co-heads of Hogan Lovells’ commercial practice, in a statement. “This underlines our commitment to further enhance our market leading capability serving the TMT sector in Asia and across our global network.”

Parsons is expected to join Hogan Lovells at the end of January.
