Harney Westwood & Riegels has boosted its Asian practice with three additions to its workforce in Hong Kong. These hires are a clear indication of the firm’s strategic direction. “The bottom line is that we are growing our business in Asia and we hope to develop both our client base and our team during the course of 2010,” says Michael Gagie, managing partner of Harneys’ Hong Kong office.
Jane Yao (pictured), Harneys’ newest senior associate, has experience with M&A, IPOs and foreign direct investment into China. Yao will also be able to bring a new perspective and understanding on transactions with Chinese elements. From 1995 to 2002 she was the Deputy Head of the Legal Department at the Shenzhen Bureau of Justice.
Harneys also lured Monica Chu, associate, from a competing Cayman and BVI law firm.
