In one of the most high-profile lateral moves in recent times, Manoj Sandrasegara has left Drew & Napier for rival firm WongPartnership. He will lead WongPartnership’s insolvency & restructuring practice group alongside current heads Chou Sean Yu and Mark Choy.

Sandrasegara enjoyed a 17-year run with Drew & Napier and worked on some of Singapore’s most lucrative I&R matters, including Asia Pulp & Paper’s US$16bn debt restructuring, representing Morgan Stanley on China Aviation Oil’s collapse and advising on Thakral Holdings’ US$718m restructuring. Sandrasegara remains one of the youngest lawyers to be elevated to Drew & Napier’s partnership; he became a director of the firm in 1998.

The move means Sandrasegara will link up with his older brother, Dilhan Pillay, at WongPartnership. Dilhan Pillay, although currently WongPartnership’s managing partner, will step down from his post in October this year before moving to Temasek as head of portfolio management.ALB
