Gulf firm Al Tamimi has promoted the head of its Jordan and Iraq offices, Khaled Saqqaf and Qatar-based lawyers Stefan Jury and Hani Al Naddaf to its partnership with immediate effect.

The string of partner appointments follow hot on the heels of recent prime poaching from Patton Boggs – power and infrastructure partner Jay Fortin – who was brought across from Abu Dhabi to the firm’s Qatar office at the start of this year (Jan 2011), in what the firm deems as a key jurisdiction.

Saqqaf, the current head of the Jordan and Iraq offices, regularly advises on mant of the largest cross border transactions across Jordan and Iraq. He joined the firm in September 2008, and specialises in banking & finance transactional and advisory work as well as complex corporate and commercial matters with a particular focus on M&A.

Newly appointed Qatar-partner Jury focuses his practice in structured project finance, Islamic facilities and derivative based financing, securitization and sukuk issues. Al Nadaff, also based in the Qatar office focuses in complex litigation with an emphasis on commercial agency, trademarks, construction and debt recovery. Al Nadaff has also been closely involved in large projects such as the NYSE acquisition of 20% of the Qatari Stock Market, the merger of Qatar Navigation and Shipping and the establishment of Credit Bureau by the Qatar Central Bank.

In Nov 2010, Al Tamimi has also appointed top litigator Paul Turner as the regional head of arbitration.ALB
