Chris Bertuch has been appointed as the new group general counsel & company secretary, at Insurance Australia Group (IAG) effective 2 May 2011.
Bertuch is the former group general counsel & company secretary at CSR Limited. He joined CSR as a corporate lawyer in 1993 and was appointed group general counsel and manager, legal department, in 2003, before assuming his most current role in 2007.
During his 25 years’ in commercial law Bertuch also worked as a partner in the law firm Gadens Lawyers in Sydney, before starting his career as a litigation lawyer with Ferrier & Associates, and Freehill, Hollingdale & Page.
Bertuch replaces Michael Cripps, who has returned to private practice and China after a five year period with IAG in Sydney. Cripps joined Clyde & Co as a partner at the end of February in the firm’s global corporate insurance practice.
