The long-established referral relationship between O’Melveny & Myers and Indonesia’s Tumbuan & Partners has been formalised with the launch of an association between the two firms that will focus on high-end corporate, finance, and capital markets transactions.

The Indonesian firm is headed by senior partner Fred B. G. Tumbuan and his daughter Jennifer B. Tumbuan, the senior Tumbuan being a highly respected commercial practitioner, academic, and author who is regularly involved in the drafting of the country’s commercial legislation. He also serves as an adviser to many government departments.

A partner in O'Melveny's Singapore team, Joel Hogarth, will be moving to Indonesia following the launch of the association, and another member, senior counsel Ratih Nawangsari, will split her time between Singapore and Jakarta.

“We are honored to be associated with Tumbuan & Partners and are extremely excited about the prospects for our association. As individuals, Pak Fred and Jennifer are highly respected colleagues and friends — and as a firm they exemplify O’Melveny’s core values of excellence, leadership, and citizenship. We believe they will be a tremendous resource for our clients. This, combined with having Joel — one of our most dynamic and successful partners — on the ground in Jakarta makes our association unique,” said Bertie Mehigan, managing partner of O’Melveny’s Singapore office, in a statement.
