Herbert Smith has hired Philip Lee, a former international capital markets consultant in Allen & Overy's Singapore office, as a partner, in a move aimed at boosting its Asia finance practice.

Lee, who also counts Freshfields in London among his previous employers, will focus on debt capital markets (DCM). He has experience advising on complex securities transactions, especially related to structured finance and general securities, and has been involved in a number of award-winning equity linked, bank capital and other finance transactions. Lee also has wide ranging experience in syndicated and secured bank lending with particular emphasis on structured finance, project finance and acquisition finance.

Lee is Herbies’ second recent DCM hire, following the appointment of former Linklaters partner Andrew Roberts as head of the firm's global practice.

"We are committed to growing both our global DCM practice and our Asia finance team as strategic priorities. Following the hire of Andrew Roberts in London earlier this year, Philip's hire is another step in further enhancing our offering across these areas at a time when Asian economies continue to grow apace," Jonathan Scott, senior partner at Herbert Smith, said in a statement.” ALB
