After almost a decade Shane Barber has stepped down as managing partner of Truman Hoyle. The Sydney-based specialist law firm is now guided by Andrew Seaton, who has succeeded Barber via a partner election.
Seaton joined Truman Hoyle in May 2008 from Australian Business Lawyers where he was a founding partner. He specialises in corporate regulation and M&A, and advises clients in the IT, pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries.
“It has been an enormous privilege to be the managing partner of this great firm for almost a decade, but I believe it’s very important for law firms to regularly refresh and renew themselves. I am particularly pleased to be handing over to Andrew,” said Barber. He will remain at the firm as a partner focusing on his corporate and communications law practice.
Seaton responded: “Under Shane’s leadership Truman Hoyle has grown considerably and carved out a unique position in the Asia Pacific legal marketplace, developing a strong reputation for delivering expert legal services to new economy businesses including an impressive array of household name global clients.” Seaton told ALB he was looking forward to helping the firm of 10 partners grow and has already been in “advanced discussions” with a number of potential partner recruits he hopes to appoint on July 1.
The firm has also appointed a new chair with the appointment of Kathryn Edghill who has replaced Tim Edwards.
