Baker & McKenzie has been appointed as legal advisor to the next stage of the NSW Government's plan to sell the State's electricity generators. Partners Chris Saxon and David Ryan will be taking lead roles on the deal.

The sale is currently in the "scoping" stage and is expected to generate gross proceeds of around $3 billion and save the state government $850 million in avoided ongoing operation and maintenance costs.

NSW Treasurer Mike Baird also confirmed that KPMG had been appointed to provide accounting advice.
