International law firm Stephenson Harwood officially opens its doors in Dubai today, adding to offices in Beijing, Dubai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, London, Paris, Piraeus, Shanghai and Singapore.
The firm expects to better service its international clients in the region and will advise on a range of corporate and commercial, dispute resolution, finance, marine and international trade, and sanctions matters.
The office will be helmed by partner Rovine Chandrasekera who will work alongside partner Umar Moghul and associate Charlotte Murphy. Chandrasekera is an expert on dispute resolution, often advising on sanctions, fraud, enforcement, and shipping and commodities matters. Moghul counsels clients on real estate and asset financings, as well as private equity transactions. He is noted for his strength in Islamic finance.
"We have been advising clients in the Middle East on their interests for many years, and opening an office in Dubai enhances Stephenson Harwood's offering to clients in the region,” said Sharon White, chief executive, in a statement. “Given the flows of capital, trade and investment between the Middle East, Europe and Asia, it has become increasingly important for us to have a presence on the ground there," she said.
