DLA Piper has entered into a strategic alliance with emerging Indonesian law firm Ivan Almaida Baely & Firmansyah (IBA&F), as it looks to solidify its presence in that country.

The firm has been involved in Indonesian matters for some time, advising government, state-owned and local enterprises, international companies, financial institutions and funds. Its experience in the country includes major infrastructure projects, financings, restructurings, privatisations, mergers and acquisitions and joint venture projects in Indonesia.

“We are pleased to announce our alliance with IAB&F, a rapidly emerging business law firm that has proven experience in providing clients with insightful Indonesian legal representation and commercial acumen,” said Bob Charlton, DLA Piper’s managing director for Asia-Pacific, in a statement. “The strategic alliance with IAB&F is a key component of our Southeast Asia strategy, which is led from our regional hub in Singapore.”

In November, DLA Piper’s Singapore office hired Erwin Purba as a special counsel from Indonesian media operator Astro.
