Taylor Wessing has entered into a tie-up with Indonesia law firm Hanafiah Ponggawa & Partners (HPRP), giving it access to one of Asia’s fastest-growing economies.
HPRP has its roots in one of Indonesia’s first post-independence law firms, the Law Offices of Mr. L. Hanafiah, which was established in 1953. The firm was reconstituted in 1990 as Hanafiah Soeharto Ponggawa and reorganised several times before taking its present structure in 2004. It currently has 63 lawyers.
Following the alliance with HPRP, the Taylor Wessing network now includes 950 legal professionals across 23 offices in Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
A number of Indonesian law firms have entered into tie-ups with foreign firms this year, including Assegaf Hamzah & Partners (Rajah & Tann), Ivan Almaida Baely & Firmansyah (DLA Piper), Christian Teo Purwono & Partners (Stephenson Harwood), MD & Partners (White & Case) and Lubis Ganie Surowidjojo (Clyde & Co).
