Lander & Rogers has announced the recruitment of new partner Calum Henderson. Henderson was previously at Johnson Winter & Slattery and took a break from practice before joining Landers’ recently formed competition and consumer law group.

Henderson said that the risk of falling foul of competition laws was an increasing concern for corporate counsel. "A recent survey of companies operating in the Asia Pacific region, Europe and the US reported that around half have been the subject of at least one investigation by competition authorities - often across multiple jurisdictions,” he said. “General counsel identified the biggest risks as vertical agreements with suppliers, customers and competitors. Cartel behaviour was seen as a secondary priority. These findings certainly accord with my experience. While more blatant cartel conduct is still very much part of the [regulatory] agenda, many clients are finding themselves with very real problems arising out of their everyday transactions."
