King & Wood Mallesons and Baker & McKenzie were the only firms with an Australian presence to make a list of the largest 20 law firms in Asia, a new ALB survey has revealed.

The ALB 50 is a survey of the largest firms in Asia, not counting Australian and New Zealand headcount. The exclusion of Australia and New Zealand exposes just how reliant many international firms are on their Australia base to shore up their Asia presence: while King & Wood Mallesons ranked fifth on the list and Baker & McKenzie ranked seventh, there were few other familiar names in the top half of the list.

Meanwhile, Clifford Chance was 26th,  DLA Piper was 31st and Herbert Smith Freehills was 45th.  Full list below:
