Alf Macolino and Rebecca Barr, previously leaders of the aged care and property practice at Lynch Meyer, have joined O’Loughlins Lawyers.

O’Loughlins’ partner Peter Myhill said the firm was building its strength in a strategically important area of practice.

“Our team approaches aged care, retirement living and affordable housing as integrated sectors, not just separate areas of law,” Myhill said. “As Australia’s population ages, retirement, aged care and providing suitable accommodation will become more and more important in our community. Addressing how we care and manage an ageing population, particularly in South Australia which has the highest ageing population, is critical, as is managing community expectations around care, seniors and retirement living.  As Australia moves towards a ‘user pays’ system for aged care, this will bring changes in regulation and compliance. “

“We work with the majority of retirement living operators, aged care operators, property developers and community housing organisations in South Australia. As a team we can draw on our expertise as a group to come up with innovative ways to help deliver solutions.”
