Rajah & Tann has taken another major step in expanding its already burgeoning Southeast Asia footprint by luring away a team of 14 lawyers, including three partners, from Hunton & Williams in Bangkok.
The three partners are Melisa Uremovic, Pakpoom Suntornvipat and Surasak Vajasit, who leads the team. Surasak's practice focuses on restructuring, arbitration and corporate representing multinational clients in complex litigation and acting as an arbitrator in international arbitration proceedings.
The 14 lawyers cover a range of practice areas, including banking and finance, mergers and acquisitions and capital markets, as well as dispute resolution and regulatory compliance in industries such as telecommunications, tobacco, food and beverage, insurance and manufacturing.
“We launched our Thai office in February 2012 with a group of six lawyers, and this team has done extremely well and has overseen the expansion of the office to 15 lawyers within two years,” said Rajah & Tann Managing Partner Lee Eng Beng, SC in a statement. “With the addition of this new team of very talented lawyers, the size of the office will be doubled and will be able to provide a full suite of quality legal services to clients in Thailand.“
Rajah & Tann's Bangkok office now has a team of 30 lawyers with a greater focus on large-scale litigation, transactions and investigations.
