Indian law firm Economic Laws Practice (ELP) has brought Jyoti Pawar on board to head the firm’s telecommunications, media and technology practice.

Based in Delhi, Pawar specialises in corporate work, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, commercial and transaction contracts, and civil and criminal litigation. She also advises clients on regulatory, compliance and public policy matters.

Pawar joins ELP from Bharti Airtel, where she was the legal and regulatory director for India and Southeast Asia. She has also worked with Mulla & Mulla Craigie Blunt & Caroe as well as GE Capital India, where she was general counsel.

“Jyoti has built an outstanding reputation as a legal professional, and as a real force in the telecom sector. We are delighted that she will now be a part of our team at Economic Laws Practice,” said ELP’s managing partner Rohan Shah, in a statement.” The addition of Pawar follows ELP’s hire of litigation partner Sonu Bhatnagar in November last year.
