Ashurst has hired two partners and one counsel from O’Melveny & Myers (OMM) in Singapore, and a senior consultant to boost the firm’s restructuring and special projects capability in Asia.

Bertie Mehigan joins as finance partner in Ashurst’s Hong Kong office. He was previously senior partner at OMM, and advises on cross-border financing, restructuring, investment and distressed transactions in China and Indonesia.

M& A partner Joel Horgarth advises investment funds, financial institutions, and corporations in Indonesia on private equity and restructuring matters. He was previously corporate partner at OMM, and will join Ashurst’s associated Indonesian firm, Oentoeng Suria & Partners (OSP), as a senior foreign legal consultant.

Corporate and finance lawyer Ratih ‘Ipop’ Nawangsari joins OSP in Jakarta as a partner in the firm’s energy, resources, and infrastructure practice.

Dispute resolution senior consultant Debby Sulaiman has also joined OSP in Jakarta as a partner. Sulaiman advises on domestic and cross-border disputes, antitrust, construction and aviation-related matters.

The hires mean Ashurst now has three partners in its Indonesian office, with Nawangsari and Sulaiman joining managing partner Susanto Atik.

Global law firm Morrison Foerster has announced that private equity veteran Scott Jalowayski will rejoin the firm as a partner in Singapore. Jalowayski most recently co-chaired the global private equity group at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.
