Berwin Leighton Paisner has hired DLA Piper’s former Asia-Pacific managing partner Bob Charlton as the firm’s Asia head and managing partner of the Hong Kong office.
Charlton, a projects and finance specialist, advises on international banking, asset finance, and infrastructure projects. He will spend a few months in London before assuming his role in Hong Kong.
“We have invested recently in our Asian finance, litigation and real estate groups, and we are seeing growing activity in power, oil and gas, mining, M&A, infrastructure, and real estate,” said Neville Eisenberg, managing partner of Berwin Leighton Paisner, in a statement.
“Bob’s international experience will be very valuable in leading the next phase of our growth in Asia.”
Charlton’s hire follows the relocation of disputes partner David Robertson and real estate partner Robert Bindless to Singapore.
Berwin Leighton Paisner has Asian offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Singapore. International work accounted for 40 percent of the firm’s total revenue last year.
Revenue from the firm’s Asian offices grew 50 percent in the same period.
Berwin Leighton Paisner now has six partners at its Hong Kong office.
