DLA Piper’s Asia operations have been rocked by yet another big-name departure, with Biswajit Chatterjee, head of the firm’s Singapore corporate finance practice and global co-head of its India practice, leaving to join Squire Patton Boggs.

Chatterjee’s departure comes almost immediately after that of Asia-Pacific managing partner Bob Charlton, who joined Berwin Leighton Paisner as the latter firm’s Asia head and managing partner of its Hong Kong office.

In July, three partners departed DLA’s Asia-Pacific offices, including Jolyon Ellwood-Russell in Hong Kong, who quit to join Simmons and Simmons, Giovanni Marino (also Hong Kong), who moved to the U.S., and Ben Sandstad in Singapore, who went in-house. So far this year, close to 10 partners have left DLA Piper in Asia.

Apart from Biswajit Chatterjee, Squire Patton Boggs’ Singapore office has hired lawyers Roy Lee and Sabyasachi Chatterjee from DFDL and Nishimura & Asahi, respectively. In the last few months, the recently merged firm has tied up with Mamiya Law Offices in Tokyo and Melli Darsa & Co in Jakarta.
