Ropes & Gray has hired ex-Yulchon and A&O partner Hyo Young Kang as a partner in its Seoul corporate practice.

Kang, who will be working closely with the firm’s Seoul managing partner William Kim, corporate partner Jaewoo Lee and IP partner David Chun, has 28 years of practising experience in Asia, including 16 in Seoul. His experience includes working on finance and capital markets, including a number of first-ever international transactions involving Korean entities in capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, project financing, and restructuring.

Kang joins from Linklaters, where he was a senior consultant. He has also been as a member of the task force of the Ministry of Justice of Korea responsible for amending the Foreign Legal Consultant Act.
