Reed Smith has hired Troy Doyle, the erstwhile head of DLA Piper’s restructuring practice in Singapore, as a partner in the city-state. Doyle is Reed Smith’s second partner hire in Singapore this year after the arrival of corporate specialist Matt Gorman from Stephenson Harwood.

Doyle advises financial institutions, private equity firms, hedge funds, corporates and insolvency practitioners across the Asia Pacific region. He has experience advising on financial and corporate restructurings, distressed mergers and acquisitions, distressed debt trading, insolvency proceedings and special situation transactions.

Also joining the Singapore office of Reed Smith is counsel Gerald Licnachan, who rejoins the firm after a stint as GC of Steppe Capital in Singapore. Licnachan has expertise in the sectors of metals and mining, oil and gas, infrastructure, commodities, hospitality, real estate, retail and aviation.

“Our Singapore office has come a long way since we launched in late 2012,” said Gautam Bhattacharyya, the Singapore office managing partner of Reed Smith, in a statement. “Our global strength in finance and transactional work make Troy and Gerald very exciting additions. Not only is Troy a highly regarded restructuring practitioner, but he has significant experience in the Asian market. Gerald also has a great deal of transactional experience in Asia.”

Doyle’s arrival takes the total number of partners at Reed Smith’s Singapore office to seven.
